Makani's litter mate, litter name of Tinker Bell, now called Kula is also
a working dog. Jude delivered her as a 6-week-old puppy via carry-on baggage to Syracuse, NY, where friends adopted her.

Mocha's jobs include carrying her leash on her morning run with Jude, finishing
the job of fetching for her daughters, crawling, rolling over, speaking and serving as hostess for visitors to our home.
Although they say that mothers don't recognize her puppies as her own, Mocha defers to her girls as if she knows she's their
mom.
Akua Kai fetches the paper and dog toys (when Makani lets her win) and brings
the toys back. She has the sweetest face of them all, but it's just so hard to capture those dark features on film.
She's a real snuggler and loves to get in bed and put her head on the pillow. She's best friends with our "alpha dog"
Woody the cat and allows him to bite her lips after she's properly licked his face. Despite her sweet demeanor, she
seems to be the fiercest guard dog of the three.
Akua Kai's daughter, Keahi Lama, Ahi for short, is Phil's dog through and
through. She does nothing but wait for him to come home while he's away. As the youngest of four, she's the least interested
in working, but talks up a storm when she greets family and friends. Like Momma Kai, Ahi is an unbelievable cuddler
and does not understand that at 75 pounds she can't get completely in your lap!
Yellow labs are best to capture on film, as evidenced by Makani's invitation
as a featured dog of the Humane Society's "prevent dog biting" training video starring Gary Sprinkle. Her talent
for diving to the bottom of the pool was discovered by the Hawaiian Moving Company who did a fantastic feature of her in October 2003. She is the one who
seems to want to work the most and looks for jobs to do. She picks up dropped items (both with and without the "oops"
command), carries water bottles, tupperware and other items to a particular place or person in the house. One of our
favorite jobs is when she "does the dishes" by carrying the four dog dishes to the bin for dinnertime filling!
